making postiive changes to my morning for my day

When is the right time to make changes?

That is a good question, perhaps tomorrow would be a good day? Perhaps next week? How many get to tomorrow or next week, and decide, no I'm not ready yet. I'll move it to ...

What factors sway the completion of a task from planning to do, to actually doing it?

If I told you our thoughts were our biggest enemy, would you agree with me, or would you give me an excuse? If you have an excuse is that denial or avoidance?

Your thoughts play games with you, as they know that if something is positive, although it is good for you, it is not good for them, so they will do anything to keep their job.

Over the past year, a lot of change and uncertainty has been in my life. The previous tools I used to keep myself stabilised were no longer working. I had been in negative habits for too long now and had to redevelop positive ones. I thought I would step through my way of achieving this so you can see how a bit of trickery and excitement works.

I planned that when I wake up in the morning, I will do my Sun Salutation or Surya Namaskar yoga sequence, helping to energise my day. Then, I will meditate for half an hour, followed by a healthy breakfast. I decided on only two meals, where one would be a full meal, and one a half before my evening dog walk. My days are busy, so starting the day with a full meal to power me up and then the top-up meal later.

The first day, I woke excited to begin my new routine, and I did it. The temperature outside was 0 degrees. Oh, did I tell you I decided to do the yoga sequence in the garden barefoot, as was originally intended? Hahaha, it's still the winter months, however, when I decide on something, I do... mostly.

I am quite determined, however, life still has its way of rocking the boat. I tend to go into things at my own pace because I have found that if I stress about doing something, I create negativity around it, and it gets worse, then I don't do it. But... If I set a goal and aim to achieve it at my own pace, I am more likely to be successful.

This morning, I had planned to do my sequence, as there was food in the house for breakfast. I fancied a good start to Monday and this week. I boldly stepped outside to find the ground wet and freezing. I couldn't help but laugh and exclaim, "Brrrr, that is sooo cold". The yoga sequence is high and low, so the tummy, knees and hands all touch the ground. I said, "Gemma, you know what. It may feel cold now because you are on this side, but when you are busy with yoga, you will not notice". So I took a big sigh, and like the rebellious person I am, I took my slippers off and completed the yoga. I had dog licks, the sun came out and warmed me, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Sometimes, we put too many expectations on things. I think it adds unnecessary weight. The weight adds to more that we have to remove or handle. However, if we make a decision and stick to it, whilst being aware of our mind and the tricks it plays. Have laughs and talk to ourselves and lighten up. We can truly achieve anything, without having the stress, anxiety and pressure of forcing something to happen.
